The village of Wengen belongs to the municipality of Lauterbrunnen. It is car-free and only accessible by train. The journey from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen with the Wengernalpbahn (WAB) takes about 15 minutes.

School children from the 1st to 6th grade are taught in the Wengen school building. Students from the 7th grade upwards attend the secondary school in Lauterbrunnen.

For medical care there is a doctor’s surgery and a pharmacy in the village.
