Directly below Grindelwald railway station, GRIWA DEVELOPMENT AG is purposefully developing the existing Gerbi neighbourhood. The plans include three new apartment buildings with a total of around 50 apartments, as well as a new branch of Bank EKI, which will remain part of the site in future.

The project will create modern housing in a central location – with a clear focus on the needs of the local population. Around 75% of the apartments will be built as primary residences, a large proportion of which will be rental apartments. The aim is to improve the housing situation for local residents in the long term and to create additional affordable housing.

A key partner in the project is Bank EKI. As well as moving into its new branch, the bank is taking on 24 of the planned rental apartments. This commitment makes a significant contribution to ensuring that additional housing for the local population can be created on the Gerbi.

The project also focuses on forward-looking solutions when it comes to sustainability. All buildings will be connected to the district heating network and fitted with photovoltaic systems on their roofs. In addition, the car parks will be adapted to meet the requirements of e-mobility.

In implementing the project, GRIWA DEVELOPMENT AG attaches great importance to collaborating with regional businesses. Wherever possible, local tradespeople and businesses are involved in the planning and execution. This not only creates new housing but also generates added value for the region.

Construction work has already begun. Over the next three years or so, a new part of Grindelwald will take shape on the Gerbi – for people who live, work and shape their future here.
